Example of a certain Latin American job board
Sometimes, after having carried out some research on job sites in particular countries, I contact those boards to receive some additional information on rates, media data, procedures, etc. Very often, I’m really taken aback by the replies I get from their sales departments:

  • First of all, most of them do not read my email to its very end. Hence, I’m provided with only half the information I had been asking for
  • Secondly, instead of rewarding my (mostly) precise queries with accurate answers, I’m just sent a quick email saying, “please have a look at our price list” with a rate card attached. Of course, I am more than happy to have as much information as possible, but, please, in the name of professional service mentality, reply to the initial (potential) customer query first!
  • Thirdly, please, please, do give a real person’s name and contact details and not just a generic one like “Sales Department” or “Customer Care Center” or “Support”. And, please, do not forget to write something like: “Hello, thank you very much for your interest in our site”.
  • So, the last time I had been requesting some information on a Latin American job site (and I’m not talking about the site I have reviewed recently), I received the following email reply:

If you want just one job posting you must go to www.theirsite.com.mx and there seek please where it says “Publique su Oferta Individual Aquí”, the system will guide you, the payment must be done with a Credit Card Visa or Mastercard.
The job post will be in our system for 7 days and the resumes you will recieve them in your e-mail.
    Saludos.

Of course, after this, I was not in any way inclined to work with them.
